Yesterday I ended up working so hard on packing stuff up that I was too
tired to code. I made up for that today, in that I spent some time in a
waiting room with the Powerbook and started organizing the queries and
templates, which have gotten way out of hand (we could really use a
full-time SQL wrangler). I also poked at the Daemon::Generic framework,
and I've put in the groupmail and requestmail ("majordomo") functions and
it just lacks the nightly maintenance (digests) and I can probably fire
that up. Getting digests (specifically, the part where you can turn on and
off digest mode without being an SQL admin...) working is really all
that's stopping me from retiring Firehawk on the Phoenyx, which is all
that's stopping us from moving everything off roc and onto the dedicated
server.
And that's getting to be a priority, given the misbehavior of the local
router, plus the saturation of the bandwidth here, plus the fact that
apparently someone with whom we share a machine on Dreamhost is either
hogging the system (Carl saw system loads of 994 or so before it (was)
rebooted) or is getting DOSed.
